The Dental Implant Process

Dental implants are patient favourite because they mimic natural teeth. Because of this, technology continues to develop, making the process smooth and accurate. With the latest advancements like computer-guided surgery and 3-D imagery, you can be confident that your new tooth will be comfortable and functional. The following steps are how it’s done:
A dental examination will determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants and search for any hidden problems
We will do a 3D radiological and clinical assessment
Based on the above assessment, you will be presented with a 3D digital mockup so you can see what it will look like once completed
With your approval, an implant and natural-looking dental crown will be created
A visit will be scheduled during which Dr Mahdi will place the implant
Your customized crown will be placed onto the implant, which often takes place at a later visit.
Not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, but if you already have jawbone deterioration, we may be able to help. Bone grafting is a procedure that can restore and save your jawbone so that it can support a dental implant, allowing you to enjoy permanent teeth restorations that look great and function like real teeth.

That’s why Dr Mahdi uses the latest technology with keyhole surgery, a minimally invasive technique using fibre optics through a tiny incision. The technique also has fewer side effects, and some patients can return to work the same day.

Once the implant is placed, the jawbone will begin the healing process. The implant may feel loose at first, so we discourage touching it. But as a result of the healing process, bone growth is stimulated, stabilizing the implant, making your new tooth stronger and your jawbone healthier.

Caring for Your New Dental Implants

Your new implants are investments that will last a lifetime. They look and function like your natural teeth, and also must be cared for like your own teeth. Daily oral hygiene will help you maintain them, while regular dental checkups allow the dentist to ensure there are no hidden problems.

After your new dental crowns are placed, your dentist or hygienist will provide after-care instructions personalised for you. Of course, we all should brush and floss every day, but you might also receive a recommendation for a certain toothpaste or mouthwash. Avoiding foods that stain like coffee or wine may also be recommended, and chewing on hard candy or ice might cause problems for your teeth. And while each patient will have individualised instructions, the following are some general rules that will benefit anyone:
