Dental Implants

Dental Implants Epping, Wollert, South Morang, Melbourne

Dental implants are a permanent solution to replace missing teeth. Once inserted, they support natural-looking crowns and bridges that can be used to fill in gaps from lost teeth or support a bridge. Our team at Northern Dental Design has the skills and experience in implantology, so when you visit us, you can be confident that your restorations will bring you the smile you deserve.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that replace a natural tooth root and have revolutionized restorative dentistry by creating permanent replacements for missing teeth. During oral surgery, the titanium posts are placed into the jawbone, and once healed they will hold a natural-looking crown to act as your new tooth. Your new replacement will look and feel like an actual tooth while giving you the confidence to smile with the look and feel of real teeth.

Patients around the world enjoy their results when using dental implants to improve their smile and regain the ability to eat the foods they desire. Other prosthetics like dentures have a tendency to rub and irritate gums, and they can make people feel self-conscious because they slip out of place, causing problems with eating and speech. But the permanence of implants can overcome all of these problems, leaving you with confidence and assuredness that you can live your life as normal. Dental implants are a healthy solution for the following:

Replace a missing tooth
Support permanent dentures
Support a bridge for several missing teeth

So professional and down to earth, both the dentist Zina and her teams of lovely ladies made me feel like a family member rather than a client. I must say Zina knows what she is talking about an expert, I won’t go anywhere else.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental Implant Melbourne
Many patients choose dental implants over traditional restorations like dentures for numerous reasons. Along with being permanent, they have long-term benefits like stimulating bone growth, which helps support facial muscles for a younger appearance. The following are the benefits of dental implants that our patients enjoy:
Implants create a permanent fixture, so teeth don’t shift
Dental crowns placed on implants are not prone to cavities
Save money because there is no need for replacement with proper care
Eat and chew with confidence
Stimulates jawbone growth like natural teeth
Can restore a beautiful smile

Some of Our Dental Implant Patients’ Transformations…

The Dental Implant Process

Dental implants are patient favourite because they mimic natural teeth. Because of this, technology continues to develop, making the process smooth and accurate. With the latest advancements like computer-guided surgery and 3-D imagery, you can be confident that your new tooth will be comfortable and functional. The following steps are how it’s done:
A dental examination will determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants and search for any hidden problems
We will do a 3D radiological and clinical assessment
Based on the above assessment, you will be presented with a 3D digital mockup so you can see what it will look like once completed
With your approval, an implant and natural-looking dental crown will be created
A visit will be scheduled during which Dr Mahdi will place the implant
Your customized crown will be placed onto the implant, which often takes place at a later visit.
Not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, but if you already have jawbone deterioration, we may be able to help. Bone grafting is a procedure that can restore and save your jawbone so that it can support a dental implant, allowing you to enjoy permanent teeth restorations that look great and function like real teeth.

Dental Implants with Keyhole Surgery

To some patients, surgery sounds like an intimidating process. That’s why Dr Mahdi uses the latest technology with keyhole surgery, a minimally invasive technique using fibre optics through a tiny incision. This process results in less disruption of the soft tissue, which means less discomfort and a speedier healing time. The technique also has fewer side effects, and some patients can return to work the same day.

Once the implant is placed, the jawbone will begin the healing process. The implant may feel loose at first, so we discourage touching it. But as a result of the healing process, bone growth is stimulated, stabilizing the implant, making your new tooth stronger and your jawbone healthier.

Caring for Your New Dental Implants

Your new implants are investments that will last a lifetime. They look and function like your natural teeth, and also must be cared for like your own teeth. Daily oral hygiene will help you maintain them, while regular dental checkups allow the dentist to ensure there are no hidden problems.

After your new dental crowns are placed, your dentist or hygienist will provide after-care instructions personalised for you. Of course, we all should brush and floss every day, but you might also receive a recommendation for a certain toothpaste or mouthwash. Avoiding foods that stain like coffee or wine may also be recommended, and chewing on hard candy or ice might cause problems for your teeth. And while each patient will have individualised instructions, the following are some general rules that will benefit anyone:

Z
Brush at least twice each day
Z
Floss according to your dentist’s instructions
Z
Under interdental brushes that can help clean the area around your crown and implant
Z
If needed, use an irrigation system like a Waterpik
Z
Keep up with regular dental checkups to prevent problems or for early intervention
