Dental Implant Recovery
Even though recovery is quicker than with most implant procedures, you will still need a day or more to recover. Of course, each patient is unique, and Dr Mahdi will offer individualised recommendations for you. General instructions for All-On-4 recoveries include the following:
Arrange a way to get safely home from your oral surgery, as anesthesia may take time to wear off
Avoid using straws to drink beverages
Avoid smoking because it can cause infection or put your implants at risk for failure
Avoid food of extreme temperatures and follow any diet you are given
Avoid moving the lips or mouth too much so as not to tear any sutures you may have
Avoid pressure in the facial area, if you must blow your nose or sneeze, try to be gentle
Rest as much as needed
Follow instructions for all prescribed medications
Swelling is normal and your dental hygienist might recommend placing on an ice pack on the swelling for 15 minutes at a time to help reduce it. Any bruising is also normal and only temporary.
