Why are there price differences with different dental practices?
Hi, my name is Pamela, and I’m the Co-Owner and Practice Manager here at Northern Dental Design at Epping in Melbourne. Thanks for downloading our price guide. As you are shopping around for your dental procedure, you probably came across a great range of prices from different dental clinics, both in Australia, as well as overseas, and you must wonder… Why are the prices so different?
So today, I wanted to share with you the 4 main factors that contributed to these price differences.
Let’s talk about experience. Different dentists have different skill sets. Choosing the right dentist who is right for you is very important as they all have different values and treatment styles. You need to choose a dentist that has confidence and be able to align with your vision. A dentist that has the knowledge and skills behind them, to be able to achieve what you envision for your smile. Only time can give experience, and with experience comes less errors, and faster results. So naturally, just like a Master Builder will charge more than a junior builder, a more experienced dentist who has been practicing for over 10, 15 years will charge more than a graduate dentist.
How much time is factored into your consultation? Does your dentist have time for you? Do they listen to your needs? Are they good with children? These are all questions you need to ask yourself when choosing the right dentist. Here at Northern Dental Design, we invest an hour for you at your first consultation. So, we can get to know you, listen to your concerns and needs, and work with you to find the best possible way to make your dream smile become a reality. So the amount of time that is invested into your consultation and treatment will impact the price you pay.
Are materials. At Northern Dental Design, we source and use the best materials available on the market from highly accredited suppliers. We don’t look for the cheapest, just the best. We pride ourselves on our work, so we always use a material that will last for the longest period of time. When you look at the cheaper dental clinics, we wonder, what’s the quality of materials you are getting? How long will it last? Is it safe? Is it a permanent solution? It may be the cheaper option at the time, but how long will it last? Using low-quality dental materials is like using indoor paints outdoor. It might “look” the same when the job is done. But over time, the quality and chemical compound needs to sustain the wear and tear from the weather outdoors. So the same considerations apply to material chosen for your treatment. Otherwise, you will have to repeat the process time and time again.
Finally, infection control and safety standard. Here at Northern Dental Design, we don’t take chances when it comes to infection control and safety of our patients.
In Australia, we have the highest standard of infection control in the world. So our nurses are trained to follow the highest standards guidelines. Between each patient, we thoroughly clean and wipe down the room. Instruments used will be cleaned, sterilised, and then scanned and labelled to mark for sterilisation cycle. For this high level of infection control comes with a cost, which is why here in Australia, the cost of dental treatment is higher compared to overseas, where their infection control and safety standard is different to Australia.
I hope this clarifies why there are price differences when going to different dental practices. When you come to visit our clinic here at Northern Dental Design, you will have the highest level of confidence from staff experience, to sterilisation and the choice of treatment materials. You will never feel rushed, we want you to walk out and have a “wow” experience, which we guarantee every time.
